From the archive
On 8 October 2019, David Tscholl, Christoph Nöthiger and Donat R. Spahn presented Visual Clot at Instrumentation Laboratory (IL/Werfen) in Bedford, Massachusetts, near Boston.
The presentation was titled “VC @ IL”. A photograph from the flight shows it open on a laptop, with a slide connecting synthetic vision in aviation and the way clinicians read patient monitoring information.
The return flight from Boston to Zurich added a personal aviation memory to the trip. From the cockpit, Christoph recorded the landing in Zurich. Years later, that footage became an aviation example in an editorial about the sounds of patient monitoring.

Selected slides from the archived presentation show the speakers, the information pyramid and early Visual Clot illustrations alongside ROTEM traces. They document the research concepts discussed at the time.
From the journey to a later editorial
The landing footage connects this trip with a later discussion of sound in patient monitoring. Read the 2025 editorial story or explore the Visual Clot research and simulator.
