The #VisualPatientAvatar and its friend, the #SwissCheeseModel of accident causation, loved traveling to Bremen for the Symposium Intensivmedizin + Intensivpflege to participate in a session with Anne Flint, and Daniel Dyba, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin about interprofessional innovation.
Traveling by plane and train has become so safe because we learned to add layers to the Swiss Cheese Model and close as many holes as possible.
That’s why the Avatar and the Swiss Cheese Model fit so well together. The Avatar adds another layer in the model, helping us humans become even better at monitoring through improved #SituationAwareness.
It does so in the same way as the additional safety systems in aviation that we pilots have become accustomed to: Ground Proximity Warning Systems, Runway Awareness and Advisory Systems, and Synthetic Vision.
🙏 to all old and new friends in northern 🇩🇪 for your openness and help. Let’s keep pressing on for #patientsafety, #careequality, and making medicine more humane. ✨🌱
