At ESICM LIVES 2023 in Milan, situation awareness and avatar-based monitoring were part of the symposium programme. The meeting, held from 21 to 25 October, brought these topics into a critical-care conference setting. Presentations connected the human-factors perspective with the design of patient monitoring.
