In May 2023, we set up a Visual Patient pilot focused on viewing distance. With a monitor at one end of a corridor, the team could explore the avatar beyond the usual close-up view. It was a practical step in developing and trying out a research setup.
From pilot to publication
This corridor pilot led to a simulation study comparing Visual Patient Avatar with conventional monitoring at viewing distances of 8 and 16 metres. The resulting paper by Petar Milovanovic and colleagues was published online in the Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing on 15 November 2024 (volume 39, pages 1065–1075, 2025).
